Why investigate a specific point?

Early drawings and survey information may leave questions at a proposed crossing or connection. A carefully positioned trial hole can provide a local view of the services and surrounding ground, helping your project team decide whether the intended design or work sequence needs adjusting.

For example, a contractor planning a new duct route may need to understand the position of an existing service before committing to the wider excavation. The purpose and location of each hole should be agreed with the people responsible for the design and site information.

Make the result useful

Tell us who needs to inspect the exposed area and what information they need to record. Coordinate any surveyor or asset-owner attendance with the excavation visit, and agree how the hole will be managed afterwards. This helps avoid uncovering an area before the right person is available to assess it.
